Senior Software Engineer - Core Messaging Infrastructure (f/m/d)

We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic (Senior) Software Engineer (f/m/d) for our Data Platform Cluster who will help us shape an entirely new team, which hosts the backbone of our streaming infrastructure and event-driven ecosystem. In your new role you can drive technical decisions and support bringing our company to the next level. 

Your Tasks – Paint the world green

• Maintain and extend the core Kafka-based messaging infrastructure of our company 
• Build and nurture data pipelines for data on- and offloading 
• Build and nurture tools and libraries for teams throughout the whole company 
• Promote and live "You build it. You run it." with a focus on monitoring and observability 
• Consult other teams on how to integrate with our messaging system in the most efficient way 
• Support other teams in reliably running and troubleshooting their applications 
• Support establish company-wide standards for data modeling, quality and access as well as Kafka-based application design 

Your Profile – Ready to hop on board

• Experience with Kafka or other messaging systems is very beneficial for this role 
• You are proficient in Java or Scala 
• You have DevOps experience, ideally with Kubernetes and/or AWS or a different cloud provider 
• You are not a fan of repetitive tasks and you know how to automate using bash, Terraform or equivalent scripting or Infrastructure-as-Code tools 
• You believe that monitoring and observation are essential parts of operations 
• You thrive in a community-driven culture, that offers you to engage in our tech chapter and community events 
• You feel comfortable in a fast-changing environment that embraces the exploration of new technologies 
• You love working in agile and self-organized teams and know how to handle ownership 
• Fluent in English
