This is a full-time remote position in a distributed team. We try to stay close to the Atlantic Time Zone, but we are flexible.

AvantStay is a growing, late-stage startup in the explosive $100+ billion dollars short-term rental (STR) industry, looking to provide world-class experiential accommodations for group travelers. The company has built a tech-enabled millennial hospitality brand to be the new standard for group-traveling experience, creating one-of-a-kind vacations experiences for people who are looking for more than the monotony of a hotel room and towards a much more personal home getaway.

What are we looking for

We are looking for a brilliant Scala Backend engineer who has the capacity and desire to help the engineering organization on a path to fast product cycles and exciting launches.

Ideal candidates will be experienced and passionate about building scalable backend technologies.

What you will do

• Contribute to the vision and long-term strategy in your domain of expertise;
• Architect, design, develop, deploy and operate services that serve AvantStay customers;
• Drive good engineering practices within your team;
• Challenge yourself to keep growing as a senior developer;
• Identify, debug, and fix production issues.

What you will bring

• Functional programming experience;
• Ability to write clean, well structured, well tested, and reusable code;
• Deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms and how to apply them to design pragmatic solutions;
• Experience delivering distributed and high-volume backend services with high availability, low latency, and scalability;
• Extensive experience working hands-on as a Software Engineer in an agile environment.
