The Role

As the Head of Backend Engineering at Depop, you'll provide technical oversight and leadership across the business and act as a functional manager.

You own the product and solution architecture and in your role, you'll place a key focus on quality control. You will provide a vision and know how to champion it and influence best practices by working through senior members of your team.


Requirements

  • Β Firm believer that engineers are accountable for all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including quality assurance and operation in production
  • You were an exceptional hands-on engineer in the past and decided that you can have more impact by leading others
  • Track record of leading engineers in cross-functional teams
  • Track record of leading your teams through transformations, both technically and organisationally
  • Strong software architecture skills

Responsibilities

Lead and develop our talented team of backend engineers, currently sitting in 8 teams and counting πŸš€

Ensure Depop can continue to scale at a rapid pace by providing a vision for people, process and technology in the back-end engineering space πŸ’»

Lead the team on a journey of owning quality and and help them to continuously improve πŸ”₯

You are able to communicate to senior technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive the implementation of your vision across teams πŸ’¬

Accountable to deliver the technical OKRs of your domain πŸ“Š
