DevOps/Linux Software Engineer

As a Linux/DevOps Software Engineer, you will be developing mobile and robotic platforms that control Teledyne FLIR's Defense & Security Products.

 

In this role, you will collaborate with other developers, designers, testers, and business managers. You will have the opportunity to contribute to all aspects of the product development lifecycle. The ideal candidate must be able to pick up new technologies quickly, be a strong team player, and rapidly adapt to changing business and customer demands. The ideal candidate will have experience administering and developing on Linux systems, including experience building the kernel and kernel modules, package management, etc.

As a member of an extraordinarily creative, motivated and talented team, you will:

  • Configure Linux systems and services.
  • Configure the Linux kernel and manage embedded Linux build frameworks.
  • Build packages from source (autoconf/automake, CMake, etc.).
  • Manage Linux security.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of the overall physical architecture of the robot platform software, including repository structure, build tooling, packaging, and installation. This includes:

o Set up, support and further integrate automated regression tests and quality metrics into an automated software build process in cross-compiling build environments. 

o Set up and maintain local package repository mirrors.

o Create and maintain development environments in VMs, docker, and other containers.

o Document build and release processes based on industry best practices.

o Support and maintain all operational activities related to continuous integration (CI) systems. 

o Collaborate with IT to design and implement a scalable build infrastructure that supports multiple target compute platforms.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience of Linux/Unix programming.
  • Must be a self starter, capable of taking a requirement and other input and designing and implementing it, using self-directed learning if necessary.
  • Experience with shell scripting (Bash, Python, Perl, Expect, etc.).
  • Strong familiarity with Linux systems programming and security principles.
  • Knowledge of Linux kernel operations.
  • Experience with Debian and RPM package management.
  • Track record of performing at a high level, delivering robust solutions on schedule.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to explain and defend own work.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Experience with the ROS (Robot Operating System) build environment is a big plus.
  • Experience with Nvidia Jetson build targets is a plus.
  • Experience with Gradle, Groovy, and Kotlin is a plus.
  • Experience with C++.
