Senior Golang Engineer

Based in Southern California, Urth is seeking an execution focused development team who is ready to take on some of technology’s greatest challenges. We’re looking for rocket-smart and talented engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, UI design and mobile.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Go and JavaScript (Node).
• Experience writing unit testable code with +80% coverage.
• Proficiency working with Go and familiar with best practices.
• Familiar with concurrent and parallel programming.
• Familiar with protocols GraphQL, REST, gRPC, WebRTC.

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems.
• Experience creating and implementing microservices, distributed architectures.
• Experience with developing, debugging, and shipping software products on large code bases that span platforms and tools.
• Familiar with Kafka or similar messaging framework.

What You’ll Do

• Work on a fast-paced, high-profile project with a significant opportunity for industry-level impact on emerging container-based technologies.
• Devise innovative ideas for solving Cloud customer problems and translate these ideas into technical designs.
• Solve end-to-end problems, for instance, software design, efficient implementation and product offering.
• Hands-on coding experience with the leading industry standards for code health, scalability and robustness.

Additionally you should be able to:

• Work on Cloud IaaS, PaaS or SaaS products.
• Use cloud platforms and/or containerized application deployments.
• Use and code in Go programming language.
• Understand containerized deployment (Docker, Kubernetes) from the user’s perspective.
• Be able to prioritize tasks.

What You’ll Need

• Take ownership of your code and always strive to improve.
• Ability to quickly learn new tools and adapt to new technologies.
• Experience implementing a CI/CD pipeline (build, test, and deploy).
• Experience with engineering and architecture in AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Cyber Security awareness.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to communicate ideas with developers and architects.
• Multi-tasking and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Strong analytical skills to understand User Stories and offer recommendations. 
• Ability to understand the team’s challenges and develop solutions.

Qualifications

Working Agile Experience, Scrum, JIRA or equivalent story writing tool, Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog, Story Prioritization, creation of user stories, Epics, acceptance criteria

5+ years of relevant work experience
